Fencing Styles and Types
-Wooden fences are the most commonly used type of fence. They offer a cost effective solution, but they require regular maintenance to keep them looking fresh and new. Wooden fences can be installed in your backyard with varying heights, depending on what you're trying to achieve visually or if there is an obstruction such as a hill that would prevent someone from being able to see over the fence.
-Wood may be stained or painted in a different colour, and there are many types of wood that can be used for fences such as cedar, redwood, pine and cypress.
-Chain link is another popular type of fence because it's affordable and low maintenance. Chain link fences are often used as a replacement for chain link fences that have been damaged.
-Chain link is generally made out of galvanized steel wire, and the links can either be square or diamond shaped. The height of these types of fences varies depending on what you're trying to achieve visually, but they usually stand at about six feet tall.
-Vinyl fences made out of PVC or polyvinyl chloride that are gaining in popularity. Vinyl is low maintenance and doesn't need to be stained or painted like wood, so it's perfect for anyone who wants their fence to stay looking fresh year round without doing any additional work on it.
Palisade steel fences are built to last, and they are typically used in areas that need a bit more security. The are often used in commercial settings.
-The steel is galvanized to prevent rusting and the material they are made out of can be either a chain link or welded wire mesh (sometimes both).-Palisade fences typically stand at about eight feet tall, but this height may vary depending on what you're trying for in your backyard.
-And finally there's wrought iron fencing which is one type that has been around forever because it's strong and attractive. The downside with these types of fences though, as we mentioned before, is that they require more maintenance than other materials. Wrought iron will need to be cleaned regularly so that it doesn't develop rust spots over time."
